Take a page from Five Doors North, throw in some Pizzeria Libretto, and we’ve got Amaya‘s latest addition to the Bayview Ave. strip, Two Doors South.

A sort of Indian/Italian fusion of a place, items on the menu are grouped by type and price. At the top end, we’ve got their Bowls of stuff for $15.95 and for $5.95, you have your choice of apps. Prices range between for less and more filling options.

The food is attractive and well-presented. Taste-wise, everything was really quite inoffensive – decent, but nothing remotely compelling. Their space is bright, with communal tables and the intense, yet stark, decor reminding me of Libretto. Overall, not a terrible place to have lunch if you’re in the area. However, there are many options on Bayvew Ave. and I’d likely hit something else before returning.

P.S. For those who care: I’d spied on Chowhound that it’s David Gaunt (ex Rosewater Supper Club, Crush) in the kitchen. I find it a bit odd to have some one of that calibre heading up a lunch box with much slower traffic than he’d be used to. ChefDB doesn’t cough up corroborative data, but that’s only so good as someone going to the bother of updating.
