A short list of restaurants with New Year’s Eve openings that you won’t find on Open Table. Clearly, not an exhaustive list. And of course, call ahead to make sure.

Unexpected Love at Bobbette & Belle
When I heard Bobbette & Belle had opened up a shop in Leslieville, I quickly made plans to make my way over and check things out. While they are well known for their cakes, I was homing in on their macarons. You see, among many, there is the never-ending quest to find “the best” macaron (for Toronto), and I’m happy to count myself in on the hunt. But it wasn’t their macarons that had me swooning in the end…
Fabbrica The Fair
Fabbrica has been getting a lot of flak from foodies regarding its prices. While not the cheapest card on the block, it is, however, one of the few Italian restaurants of note in the area. Though the decor tries a little too hard to be rustic-yet-cool, it’s still a nice space to loiter in. Just get someone else to foot the bill.
Billy’s Wine Book
Billy’s Best Bottles details well-priced wines and is organized for easy-reading. Meaning that if you’re a wine noob like me, this is a really friendly way to understand wines and get some suggestions. Certainly useful when confronted with the rows upon rows of bottles at the LCBO.
A Poised Crown Princess
With the long-time fixture of Dynasty (on Bloor) having just closed its doors (with rumours of relocation ongoing), Crown Princess seems to be well-poised to accommodate dim-sum-hungry patrons in the area.
Konner: Tongue-searingly Good
Food at Konner Chinese Restaurant hits that “spicy, but still tasty” strata of eats, which always makes me happy.
A Box Of Beard Papa’s
I was giddy to discover Beard Papa has opened a new outpost in Toronto, yet dismayed I didn’t hear about it sooner!
Two-bite post: O&B Canteen
TIFF has come and gone, but O&B Canteen thankfully remains. Grabbed a quick breakfast one morning before an event at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and was happy that I could get something quick, well-priced, and tasty – nearby!
Two notable daily-deals
Daily deals are getting better – I actually want to buy them. Last week was a good deal for About Cheese and today we have Fin Izakaya (which I enjoy) and Callebaut (ditto).
Bribery For The Cure
I’m about 10 days away from CIBC’s Run For The Cure and I’ve done no fund-raising. So I am resorting to baked-goods and pictures of kittens in an attempt to get things going in a hurry.
