Sigh. The one image I can’t ID… Can you?

A ridiculously long line up of chefs (60!) from around the city fed me in the name of a good cause. Take a look (umn… Wordless Wednesday?) at the Eat To The Beat fundraiser (benefitting Willow Breast Cancer Support) that took place at the Canadian Opera Company last night.

Anjuli Arora (Loic Gourmet) / Lavender sheep’s milk mousse with candied cauliflower, niagara chestnuts and perth county honeycomb

Lindsay Haddock’s (Scaramouche) Italian prune plum kouign amann with prune & Armagnac cream. Really enjoyed this dessert – the boozy cream and crispy pastry was a winner.

Vanilla macaron Eiffel Tower (Jayne’s Gourmet Catering – I think). Alexandra Feswick (Samuel J. Moore) Devils on horseback – roasted port-stewed prunes wrapped in bacon. Tasty little devils!

Nuit Regular (Khao San Road) / Mar Hor – savoury pork & peanut topped with chili & cilantro on a pineapple slice.

Tobey Nemeth (Edulis) / Pintxos: Smoked Silver Bass with herbed aioli and pickled red onion. Smoked Berkshire pork sausage with green onion pureé. Fresh sheep’s milk cheese with piquillo peppers and white anchovies. chicken liver mousse with quince purée. House-made St. Canut ham with Stirling butter, pickles, and Kozlik’s mustard. The sausage was really lovely.

Karen Viva-Haynes (Viva Tastings) / Fig and red cabbage salad rolls. Group favourite. We all went back for seconds. Really refreshing vinegary flavours and crunchy textures.

Cathy Beneway (Creative Catering by Cathy) / Pickerel tacos with slaw

This was beside or with OMG Baked Goodness / Thanksgiving Popcorn – tasty and really enjoyed this creative take on things.

Lorie Drover & Maia Higgins (Whole Foods Market) / Traditional pork tourtière tartlet. Catherine O’Donnell (Willow Cakes and Pastries) / Chocloate caramel paté with ice wine jelly

Jayne Dunsmore (Jayne’s Gourmet Catering) Butternut squash terrine with apples and celery root with a pecan maple salsa verde.

Anne Yarymowich (AGO) / Mayan spiced braised beef short ribs with plantain mash and plantain chips. Another crowd favourite!

A fun event that I probably shouldn’t have tried to shoot. There were quite a few dishes that I enjoyed but didn’t have a good photo of, like the dulce de leche macaroons from Wanda’s Pie In The Sky (yum!). The lighting was so terrible and it was hard getting crisp photos – even the ones I posted are questionable! Still, I wanted both to highlight this event and show some of the beautiful and/or tasty things these great chefs had crafted for such a good cause!
