I mentioned in the last post that there were a bunch of Toronto daily-deal sites that frequently offer discounts on restaurants. Of the five deal sites I check, three are regularly active. The biggest dud so far is the Groupon site. You may see their banner to the right – they’ve been pimping through Google ads a lot lately. Except, you know what? They have yet to post a deal. It’s been several weeks now. Way to market effectively guys.

Typically I see offers like today’s Webpiggy deal: $10 for $20 worth of food at some restaurant. For once, I can say that I’ve actually heard of and eaten at the deal-du-jour resto, Amato, but that’s not usually the case. I tend to let most of those offers pass.

But every now and then a deal site will have something more interesting, like today’s WagJag deal: $25 for a Custom Fresh Box from Front Door Organics. Normally $42, this is a nice way to try their service. What’s interesting about the Custom Fresh Box is that you can opt to substitute everything in it for something else on their list – including dish cloths, soaps, toothpaste, and laundry detergents – all organic-tastic.

This particular deal is live until end of day on Monday, March 22 instead of expiring within 24 hours, so you have some time to figure out if this works for you. There are both geographic and date limitations, so make sure to read all the details.
