Places I’ve eaten, things I’ve tasted.

Sansotei's Delicious Broth

Sansotei is one of many ramen shops blooming in Toronto these days. But you should visit (get here early – there are occasional reports of being sold out by 7:30p) and sample their broth. It’s amazingly good – thick, not greasy,… Continue Reading →

TUM Faves: ESÉ's Tomalitos

This sweet corn cake is both sweet and savoury. With dulce de leche drizzled on top and a kick of salt and butter, this was really nice. Soft, nice crumb, good corn taste. I also discovered that I used to… Continue Reading →

TUM Faves: Kwek Kwek

I’ve had these guys before, but Bistro Filipino’s kwek kwek – deep-fried quail eggs in anatto batter and a rice dipping sauce – were especially delicious this time around. Lightly crispy on the outside, delicious molten yolk inside. Wanted to get… Continue Reading →

TUM Faves: KEO's Caramels

KEO Confiserie’s delicious caramels are delicious.

TUM Faves: The Homer, The Simpsons' Donut

Tangy black currant icing. Perfectly-coloured sprinkles. Lulz.

Brunch at Parts & Labour

Nothing overly fancy, but all solid breakfast options done well. Lots of space, reservations, and coffee refills seal the deal.

Kimchi Fries at Bahn Mi Boys

Beef Bourguignon

After watching Julie & Julia at the TIFF Lightbox (part of the Food On Film series that ran earlier in the year), you could wander over to LUMA and have the classic dish of beef bourgignon. The dish was rich and… Continue Reading →

Revisiting Le Club Chasse Et Pêche

A few years ago, I ate dinner at Le Club Chasse Et Pêche and liked it so much that I promptly made a reservation for lunch the next day. In the time since, I’ve pointed friends and family to this restaurant, and they too have had great meals there. A recent visit with Vanessa (of Tongue & Cheek) gave me a chance to see if my fond memories would hold true.
